Personal Physical Training
Expert-guided training for strength, mobility, and long-term health
Personal physical training at Active Health Clinic goes beyond conventional gym-based coaching. Guided by healthcare and movement specialists, each program is individually designed to improve strength, mobility, endurance, and overall physical performance in a safe, structured, and evidence-based way.
You may be recovering from an injury, managing a chronic condition, or simply working on your fitness. In every case, our trainers work closely with our medical team to ensure your program aligns with your medical needs and long-term goals.
Based in Achrafieh, Beirut, our personal training programs are tailored for injury prevention, post-rehabilitation support, athletic performance, and long-term health maintenance, making them suitable for all ages and fitness levels.
Training programs at the clinic are led by Marc Berbary MSc, sports coach and performance specialist.
Adapted training programs: our specialty
We are specialized in adapted physical training: programs designed around a medical condition, an age-related change, or a specific physical limitation, rather than a one-size-fits-all fitness plan. Every adapted program starts with an assessment of your strength, mobility, balance, and medical history, and progresses at the pace that is right for you, in coordination with our medical and rehabilitation team.
Sarcopenia: rebuilding muscle and strength
Sarcopenia is the progressive loss of muscle mass and strength that comes with age, and it accelerates when we stop challenging our muscles. It affects walking, stair climbing, balance, and independence. The most effective response is progressive resistance training: supervised strength work with loads that are adapted to your level and increased gradually. Our sarcopenia programs combine this structured strength training with guidance on protein intake and overall nutrition through our nutrition service, because muscle rebuilding depends on both training and diet.
Osteoporosis: training for stronger bones
Bones respond to loading. For people with osteoporosis or low bone density, appropriately dosed resistance and weight-bearing exercise can help maintain bone strength, while posture work and back-strengthening exercises protect the spine. Just as important, our programs train balance and body control to reduce the risk of falls, the main cause of fractures. Exercises are selected carefully for your fracture risk, and when relevant we coordinate with your physician or our family medicine service.
Balance and coordination training
Coordination, balance, and reaction speed can be trained at any age. Our programs use progressive proprioceptive and stability exercises to improve how your body senses and controls movement: standing balance, gait confidence, agility, and coordination between the upper and lower body. This work is valuable for older adults who want to prevent falls, for patients returning from injury, and for athletes who want sharper movement control, often in combination with physiotherapy.
Chronic conditions and special populations
Adapted physical activity is one of Marc Berbary's core specializations. Programs are adjusted for people living with chronic conditions such as chronic pain, obesity, or diabetes, and for anyone who has been told to "exercise more" but does not know where to start safely. Training intensity, exercise selection, and progression are all matched to your condition and reviewed regularly with the clinic's team.
Frequently asked questions
How is personal training at Active Health Clinic different from gym coaching?
Personal physical training at the clinic goes beyond conventional gym-based coaching. Each program is designed by healthcare and movement specialists, and our trainers work closely with the medical team so that your program aligns with your medical needs and long-term goals.
Who leads the personal training programs?
Training programs are led by Marc Berbary MSc, sports coach and performance specialist.
Is personal training suitable if I am recovering from an injury?
Yes. Programs are tailored for injury prevention, post-rehabilitation support, athletic performance, and long-term health maintenance, making them suitable for all ages and fitness levels.
Can sarcopenia be improved at my age?
Yes. Muscles respond to progressive resistance training at any age, including in the 70s and beyond. With supervised strength work and adequate protein intake, most people can rebuild measurable strength and improve daily function. The key is a program adapted to your starting level that progresses gradually.
Is strength training safe if I have osteoporosis?
With proper supervision, yes, and it is one of the most useful things you can do. Exercises are selected for your fracture risk, emphasizing safe resistance work, posture, and balance training to reduce fall risk. When relevant, we coordinate with your treating physician.
I have never trained before. Can I still start?
Absolutely. Every program starts with an assessment of your strength, mobility, balance, and medical history, and begins at the level that is right for you. Many of our clients start with no training background at all.
